Emergency water extraction
Standing water right now? Call (647) 428-0007. The first hours decide how big a water damage job becomes. Water left standing keeps soaking into drywall, subfloor and framing, and everything it reaches has to be dried or removed later. Extraction stops that, and it is the fastest way to shorten drying: water pulled out as liquid doesn’t have to be evaporated.
We aim to be on site within 60 minutes anywhere in Toronto, Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 4pm, with our own pumps and extractors on the truck.
When you call, we’ll ask
- Where is the water coming from, and has it stopped? If a pipe is still leaking, close the main water shut-off.
- Is the power safe? If water is near the electrical panel, stay out and call Toronto Hydro.
- How deep is it, and what’s under it? Carpet, hardwood, laminate or bare concrete.
- Is it clean water, or did it come from a drain or outside? That decides what our crew brings.
The answers let us send the right equipment the first time.
Our extraction equipment and what it’s for
Different water needs different tools. We bring what the job needs.
Submersible pumps
For deep standing water in basements, sump pits and crawl spaces, moving large volumes quickly.
Extraction units
Powerful extractors pull water out of carpet, underpad and hard floors far better than a shop vac.
Carpet and pad extraction
Weighted extraction squeezes water out of carpet and underpad, which can let clean-water carpet be dried in place.
Moisture check
Meters and thermal imaging find water that moved under flooring and into the bottom of walls.
Drying setup
Air movers and dehumidifiers go in as soon as extraction is done, so drying starts the same visit.
Records from minute one
Photos and readings from the first visit, which your insurer will ask for.
Can I just use a shop vac?
For a small clean-water spill on a hard floor, yes. A shop vac can’t pull water out of carpet and underpad, can’t reach water under laminate or hardwood, and shouldn’t be used on sewage. If the water reached carpet, walls or a finished floor, or covers more than a small area, professional extraction will save more of what’s there.
Extraction is step one, not the whole job
Even after the visible water is gone, the materials underneath stay wet. That water has to be dried out with dehumidifiers and air movers over the next few days, and checked with readings until the structure is dry. We do both. See water damage restoration for the full process, or basement flood restoration if the water is in your basement.
How much does emergency water extraction cost?
Extraction is usually billed as part of the whole water damage job. Typical ranges in Toronto, including drying:
| Situation | What’s involved | Typical cost |
|---|---|---|
| One area, clean water, caught early | Extraction, drying, dehumidification | $1,500 – $3,000 |
| Several rooms, clean or grey water | Extraction, drying, antimicrobial treatment, wet drywall removed | $3,000 – $5,500 |
Sewage and whole-floor losses are priced after inspection. We bill all insurers directly and write the estimate in Xactimate.

Often, yes. Water that drained off the floor is still sitting in carpet, underpad, subfloor and the bottom of the walls. Extraction and drying get it out before mould starts, which can be within 24 to 48 hours.
Carpet soaked with clean water can often be saved if it’s extracted and dried quickly, although the underpad is usually replaced. Carpet that touched sewage or floodwater can’t be saved.
Only for a small clean-water spill on a hard floor. A shop vac can’t pull water out of carpet and underpad or reach water under flooring, and it shouldn’t be used on sewage.
Extraction is usually priced together with drying. Clean water in one area caught early typically costs $1,500 to $3,000, and several rooms of clean or grey water typically cost $3,000 to $5,500. Sewage is priced after inspection.
