Storm damage restoration
Storm water in your home? Call (647) 428-0007. Toronto storms damage homes from two directions. Heavy rain overwhelms sewers and runs in through window wells and doors, and wind or ice opens up roofs and walls so water comes in from above. Either way, the water inside is what does the lasting damage, and that is what we deal with.
Our IICRC WRT certified crews extract the water, remove what can’t be saved, sanitise where storm water came in from outside and dry the structure. In Toronto we aim to be on site within 60 minutes, Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 4pm. After a storm that hits many homes at once, we’ll give you an honest arrival time on the phone.
After the storm: what to do first
- Stay safe. Keep away from downed power lines, and out of water near the electrical panel.
- Stop more water getting in if you safely can: towels at a door, a bucket under a ceiling drip. Don’t climb onto a roof in bad weather.
- Get the opening covered. For roof or wall damage, call a roofer or contractor to tarp or seal it.
- Photograph the damage outside and inside before cleanup starts.
- Call your insurer, then call us to start on the water inside.
Storm water damage we handle
We deal with the water inside your home. Roofs, windows and exterior walls go to a roofer or contractor.
Heavy rain and overland water
Water running in through window wells, doors and low spots, treated as contaminated water and sanitised.
Roof and ceiling leaks
Wet ceilings, insulation and walls under a storm-damaged roof, once the opening has been covered.
Ice dams
Meltwater backing up under shingles and into ceilings and walls in winter.
Sump pump failures
Basements flooded when a storm cut the power and the sump pump stopped.
Extraction and drying
Water removed, wet materials taken out and the structure dried with readings on every visit.
Storm claim documentation
Photos, moisture maps and a scope in Xactimate, so your adjuster can process the claim.
Does home insurance cover storm damage?
Wind and hail damage that lets water into the house is usually covered under an Ontario home policy. Rainwater running in at ground level is usually overland flooding, and water forced up through drains is a sewer backup. Both are often separate add-ons. Ice dam damage is treated differently by different insurers. Tell your adjuster exactly how the water got in, and we’ll document it the same way. We bill all insurers directly.
Why storm water is treated as contaminated
Rainwater that has run over the ground or come through the sewers carries soil, sewage and chemicals, so it is handled as Category 3 water under the IICRC S500 standard. Carpet, underpad, insulation and drywall it touched are removed, not dried in place. Clean rainwater dripping through a ceiling is usually less contaminated, and more of the ceiling and wall can often be dried.
How much does storm damage restoration cost?
Storm jobs are priced after inspection, because the cost depends on how the water got in and how far it spread. We write the estimate in Xactimate, the platform adjusters use. For flooding below grade, see flood damage restoration and basement flood restoration.
Before the next storm
Clear eavestroughs and downspouts, keep window wells covered and clear, and consider a battery backup for your sump pump. A licensed plumber can advise on a backwater valve, and the City of Toronto’s Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy Program covers 80% of eligible work, up to $6,650 per property, since May 2026.
Water in the house right now? Call (647) 428-0007. We answer Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 4pm. Or send photos of the damage and we’ll call you back.
No. We handle the water damage inside your home: extraction, removal of wet materials, sanitising and drying. A roofer or contractor covers and repairs the roof, windows or walls.

We aim to be on site within 60 minutes anywhere in Toronto during service hours. When a storm floods many homes at once, we’ll tell you honestly on the phone when we can get to you.
Catch dripping water, move belongings away and photograph the damage. Have a roofer deal with the ice dam, then call us to dry the ceiling, insulation and walls before mould starts.
It often is, if the storm cut the power and the sump pump stopped. Whether it’s covered depends on your policy. We’ll document the cause and the damage for your claim either way.
