Flood damage restoration
Flooded right now? Call (647) 428-0007. When a heavy storm overwhelms the sewers or water runs in from outside, it brings soil, sewage and whatever was on the street with it. Floodwater is treated as the most contaminated category of water, so restoring a flooded home means removing it safely, taking out what it soaked, sanitising and then drying.
Our IICRC WRT certified crews aim to be on site within 60 minutes anywhere in Toronto, Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 4pm. When a storm floods many homes at once, we’ll tell you honestly on the phone when we can get to you.
Before anyone goes into a flooded room
- Don’t step into water near the electrical panel or outlets. If the power can’t be shut off safely, call Toronto Hydro.
- Smell gas? Leave and call Enbridge Gas from outside.
- Keep children and pets away from floodwater. Treat it as sewage.
- Photograph the water line on walls and furniture before anything is moved.
- Call your insurer to open a claim, then call us. Don’t wait for the adjuster before drying starts.
How we restore a flooded home
Flooding is handled as Category 3 water under the IICRC S500 standard from the first visit.
Safety first
We check that power is isolated and the area is safe before work starts, and set up containment where floodwater reached.
Floodwater removal
Submersible pumps and extractors remove the water and the silt and debris that came in with it.
Removing contaminated materials
Carpet, underpad, insulation and drywall that floodwater touched are removed and bagged, usually with a flood cut above the water line.
Cleaning and disinfection
Concrete, framing and every remaining surface is cleaned and treated with antimicrobial products.
Structural drying
Dehumidifiers and air movers dry the framing and slab, with readings taken on every visit.
Claim documentation
Photos, moisture maps and drying logs in Xactimate, so your adjuster sees exactly what flooded and what was done.
Flood or water damage: why the difference matters
To an insurer, water that came from inside the house, like a burst pipe, is usually ordinary water damage. Water that came in from outside, like rain running in through a window well or a flooded street, is overland flooding. Water pushed up through a floor drain is a sewer backup. In Ontario these are often three different coverages, and many policies only include the last two as add-ons. Read your policy or ask your broker which you have, and tell the adjuster exactly where the water came in.
What can be saved after a flood
Hard, non-porous things usually can: concrete, tile, metal, most solid wood furniture once cleaned and dried. Things that soak up water usually can’t: carpet and underpad, mattresses, upholstered furniture, insulation and the drywall below the water line. Photograph anything you throw away and keep a list for your claim. Documents and photos can sometimes be saved by freezing them in sealed bags until they can be dealt with.
How much does flood damage restoration cost?
Because floodwater is Category 3, flood jobs are priced after inspection. The cost depends mostly on how much of the house the water reached and how much has to be removed. We write the estimate in Xactimate and bill your insurer directly when the loss is covered.
After the water is out
Once the structure is dry, a licensed plumber can tell you whether a backwater valve or a sump pump would help. Since May 2026 the City of Toronto’s Basement Flooding Protection Subsidy Program covers 80% of eligible work, up to $6,650 per property. If the flooding was in your basement, see basement flood restoration.
Water in the house right now? Call (647) 428-0007. We answer Monday to Friday 9am to 8pm and Saturday 9am to 4pm. Or send photos of the damage and we’ll call you back.
Yes. Water that came from outside or up through the sewers is treated as Category 3, the most contaminated category, because it can carry sewage, bacteria and chemicals. Porous materials it touched are removed, not just dried.
Often only if you added it. Overland flooding and sewer backup are usually separate endorsements on Ontario home policies. Water from a burst pipe inside the house is usually covered under the main policy. Check your policy or ask your broker.
Not after a flood. Drywall that floodwater touched is cut out, usually a little above the water line, and the wall cavity is cleaned and dried before anything new goes in.
Most flooded areas take about three to five days of drying once the water and wet materials are out. Concrete slabs and thick framing can take longer, and we keep the equipment running until readings show the structure is dry.
We aim to be on site within 60 minutes anywhere in Toronto during service hours. After a storm that floods many homes at once, we’ll give you an honest arrival time on the phone rather than a promise we can’t keep.
